Erith goalie Molloy stops it being a rout.
The Crows started this match in the same vein as they did against Croydon FC in the FA Vase last week, full of energy, pace and power and took the game to the home side, putting them under constant pressure from the first whistle.
Phipp set the tone within the first minute, hitting a shot over and he was quickly followed by Muggeridge and Crabb who had shots saved or blocked for corners inside 4 minutes. Molloy, in the Dockers goal, must have known then that he was in for a busy afternoon and had it not been for him the result could have vastly different.
The away side took the lead after 5 minutes when Phipp fired the ball in to the net from the edge of the area after a corner for the Crows was not cleared by the Erith defence well enough, Phipp's shot giving Molloy no chance as he stood rooted to the spot.
Now 1-0 up the Crows went for the second, Phipp and Muggeridge to the fore with the chances before the away side had to make a substitution in the 16th minute, Clarke going off with what looked like a groin strain and to be replaced by Unwin in a like-for-like swap.
The substitution didn't hurt the Crows and it became 2-0 only a minute later, Muggeridge to Crabb, Crabb back to Muggeridge and the latter put in a curling, teasing cross come shot from out wide which deceived Molloy and ended up in the back of the net. There's no doubt that the movement of Attwood put the 'keeper off which left him no chance to save the effort.
The first event the home side had in the match came in the 21st minute when Warden received a yellow card for a late challenge on Treleaven and then Ramadam had what was their only real effort on goal, not just in the first half but throughout the 90 minutes, when he fired just over from the edge of the area.
The next event for the home side happened in the 30th minute but it wasn't a joyous one, Jeffrey seeing a straight red card for a tackle on Walder in centre midfield. His sending off made it three players off in three games against us with two of the players seeing the red card for offences against Walder, not hard to see who the opposition think is our key player in that area but once again Jack showed how important he is to us as he went on to put in a Man of the Match performance, and on his birthday too!
The rest of the half was attack against defence with Muggeridge forcing Molloy in to another great save and as the half was coming to an end, Molloy saved a rasping drive from Attwood, tipping the ball on to the underside of the bar and the ball bouncing out clear of the line. Attwood must have known then that it was just not his day despite all the effort he put in throughout as he always does.
The second half for the Crows wasn't as good as the first but it was still far too good for the home side and Molloy had to be at his best again in the 47th minute, saving an effort from Treleaven and the subsequent rebound was headed wide by Attwood.
Attwood did beat Molloy in the 48th minute unfortunately the shot from the edge of the hit the right hand post and rebounded to safety, the luck definitely not with Zac in this game. Muggeridge then forced Molloy in to another good save before the referee rather harshly booked Crabb in the 55th minute for what seemed a rather innocuous tackle on a Town player.
With the Town players battling for everything to their credit the match dropped in standard a bit and both Day for Town and White for the Crows received yellow cards from referee Fruin as the match wore on.
Treleaven and Muggeridge then went off to be replaced by Pearson and Pring respectively and Erith made their substitutions around the same time so the changes rather affected the flow of the game somewhat in the sense it took the new players some time to get in to the pace of the game and up to speed.
The Crows remained comfortably in control though and the final whistle blew with the score not being added to, mainly down to Molloy in the Dockers goal who had an afternoon to remember and stopped the home side being on the end of a heavy defeat.
There were plenty of players who could hold their hand up for the Crow's Man of the Match, Barton standing in for the suspended Turner, Boddy, dependable as ever, Phipp and Muggeridge in midfield, Attwood and Treleaven up front but in the end the consensus of opinion gave the award to Walder who had a great afternoon keeping the defence protected and the forwards driving forward throughout.
