Red away kit still unbeaten this season.
As the Crows had to travel to Fisher's new ground in Salter Road this season in Rotherhithe, it would be fair to say that everyone connected to the visitors had to have "tunnel" vision when it came to this match as only a win would be good enough. They might be a nice, friendly club and be in the relegation places in the table, but with us needing the points too, there could be no sentiment given out on the pitch.
Even though the home side play in black and white striped shirts, black shorts, the Crows decided to wear their red shirt and white shorted away kit for this fixture, no bad thing as it hasn't been beaten away all season, plus having played at home on Saturday, time to get that kit washed and dried was rather limited.
The team was the same as Saturday's, as was the formation, no surprise there following the win against Lordswood and with the prospect of both teams needing to win and playing on a good, 3G surface, the expectation from everyone that we would witness a good spectacle was high.
The Crows started on fire and Treleaven had a shot deflected for a corner inside the 1st minute and it was only in the 3rd minute that the away side went 1-0 up, a superb through-ball by Vickers out to the Crows left found Muggeridge who cut inside and from just inside the box he fired the ball home by the 'keepers right hand post.
It was one way traffic towards the Fisher goal from then on with the home side offering very little, the Crows made it 2-0 in the 28th minute, a Carey corner was headed goalwards by Turner and Barton was on hand to knock the ball home from close range.
Attwood, Treleaven and Muggeridge were causing the Fisher defence plenty of problems and it was all they could do to prevent them increasing the lead even more. Eventually the pressure told once more in first half stoppage time, Treleaven had a shot cleared for a corner which Carey took, once again he found the head of Turner and whilst many thought the goal belonged to Turner, including the tannoy announcer, the man himself said later that Barton had been the man to put the ball finally over the line. Therefore, it was 3-0 to the Crows in the 45+3rd minute and just as the home side kicked off again, the whistle blew for the break and all associated with the Crows were more than satisfied with what they'd done through the first period.
The second half started exactly as the first and a brilliant move saw Attwood having a shot well saved by Banks for a corner. Carey took it once again and the ball eventually found it's way to Barton at the back post who finished it with ease, volleying in to the back of the net from 8 yards out, 4-0 up after only 47 minutes.
Whether having such a lead meant the Crows took their foot off the accelerator can only be conjecture however, the home side then started to get on top and have a far better slice of the possession and chances on offer. In the 52nd minute Fisher pulled a goal back, Devia-Pineda took a corner which resulted in Haidarovic putting the ball in the net and making the score 4-1.
The goal gave the home side a lift and for a period they had the greater possession and started to control the game to such an extent that a tweet from the home side said that the Crows looked "rattled" a slight exaggeration may be but they were definitely in the ascendancy at this point.
The Crows cause was not helped when Attwood limped off with a nasty looking foot injury in the 54th minute, although with Perry replacing him the Crows had more than a capable replacement. Then in the 62nd minute Vickers had to go off injured with Carrington coming on to replace him in the midfield area. Still, the home side were enjoying their spell of control and scored their second goal in the 70th minute. Hamill took a free kick and floated the ball over to Dynan at the back post, totally unmarked and he headed the ball across goal for Haidarovic to put the ball in the net.
The next goal was therefore very important and it went to the Crows practically straight from the restart, Carey floating a free kick into the Fisher area in the 72nd minute which found Treleaven unmarked in the centre of the goal some six yards out and he made no mistake, 5-2 then to the visitors.
In the 74th minute Dynan was replaced by Joseph Adesina for Fisher and in the 75th minute Pearson replaced Treleaven for the Crows. By now the Crows had regained control and they scored their sixth goal in the 77th minute, Muggeridge crossing to the back post for Barton to nod home, thus scoring his fourth goal of the game and earning himself the Crow's Man of the Match award even before the end of the match.
From here-on in the match petered out and the final whistle blew after 90+4 minutes, the Crows taking the points back to Crowborough with them. It's not a bad set up at Salter Road, although there's no bar or burger facility as far as I could see, however, I wish them well in their efforts to stay up and whilst we might have two "finals" left, then so have they.
