TWO SOLOS, A BRACE AND A HAT-TRICK, CROWS PLAY THE RIGHT TUNE.

At last the Crows take their chances in a game, unfortunately for them Corinthian had to suffer.

Seventh heaven.
Following the point gained away on Saturday against Rochester United, although some may think two were dropped, it was imperative that the Crows got their home league form back on track, having beaten Sevenoaks Town at the Community Stadium but losing to AFC Croydon Athletic and Cray Valley PM previously.
As a collective unit the squad has been saying for the last few weeks that someone soon will cop a big defeat however, thinking and saying it is one thing, actually doing it on where it matters the most, the pitch, is something else.
However, on Tuesday evening against our visitors, Corinthian FC, the chances that the squad have created but not converted in previous matches were all forgotten as Attwood, Turner, Treleaven (2) and Muggeridge (3) put the visitors to the sword and made it a night to remember for all Crow supporters.
The Crows haven't always been the best of starters this season so far, so it was a surprise to most of us who've watched all the games this season that they started like a run-away express train, putting the visitors under pressure from the first whistle until the half-time break arrived, pressing from the front, playing with pace and power and putting in their best passing display of the season so far.
Personally speaking, the 45 minute period the side put on display on Tuesday was the best half of football I've seen a first team put in during my 25 year association with the club. The passing, the movement and the general cohesion between the players was a beautiful thing to behold and left most people not wanting the interval to arrive.
The Crows couldn't have started any better, Clarke setting Attwood free after only 3 minutes and although his first effort was saved, his second effort found the back of the net despite the best efforts of the Corinthian 'keeper and a defender on the line, 1-0 and just what the players needed.
Only 4 minutes later it got even better for the Crows, with the visitors struggling to keep up with our players, let alone have any of the ball, their defenders sometimes had to stop our players anyway they could, Attwood again was surging forward when he was upended about 25 yards out from goal, the free kick was duly awarded and up stood Treleaven to hit a dipping, curling shot over the wall and in to the net, giving their goalie no chance, 2-0 then and the confidence grew even more.
The Crows carried on at a pace, creating some good chances which required some desperate defending and it was only a matter of time we were thinking when a third goal would arrive, low and behold in the 28th minute it did. A great period of team passing and movement saw Treleaven set free down the Crows right hand side and his far post cross was expertly met by Muggeridge on the volley, sometimes they go high and wide, sometimes they fly in to the net and thankfully for us, the net bulged to everyone's delight, a goal to grace any game.
Totally shell-shocked Corinthian made their first substitution, Brown, their left back going off and Cooper coming on.
The Crows carried on playing a superb brand of football for the rest of the half and the only downside was that Clarke tried to tackle someone near the edge of his own area and we all know that when Wayne tackles he normally gets a yellow card, referee Fyfe, who had a great game, didn't disappoint anyone watching and the card was shown.
It was highly unlikely that at 3-0 ahead, the level of performance the team put in for the whole of the first half could be maintained in the second half, plus you have to expect the opposition to show some reaction early on as I'm sure they may have had to listen to a few harsh words from their management team during the break.
To be fair to Corinthian, they are a good footballing side and they did, indeed, start the second period better and got the reward they deserved in the 52nd minute, Evans heading in a free kick from close range to make it 3-1.
This early shot across the bows seemed to stir something in the Crows again and they started to gain control, the passing, movement and pace started to come back to the fore, normal service was restored.
Clarke went off for the Crows, Shea coming on in the 61st minute and at the same time, Daramy went off for Corinthian and their Clarke came on, no relation to ours by the way.
The pressure was still on the Corinthian defence and in the 68th minute Bath fouls Attwood in desperation and gets a yellow card. From the resulting Carey in-swinging free kick, Turner deflects the ball goal-wards and it nestles in the corner for a score of 4-1 to the Crows and the three goal lead was restored once more.
Corinthian made their third and final substitute at the same time, Hagan having to go off injured and Johnson came in to the fray. However, this change did little to stem the navy blue tide that was heading towards the dressing room end and only 3 minutes after getting his first yellow card, Bath brought down Muggeridge as he was surging forward and referee Fyfe had no hesitation in brandishing a second yellow followed by the obligatory red, so off he went, Corinthian down to ten.
After 73 minutes it was Walder next to see a yellow card for deliberately handling the ball, his sixth of the season and therefore, he'll have a one game ban to serve soon. In the 80th minute he was replaced by Ridley and 4 minutes later Tanner saw yellow for a late challenge on Boddy.
Still the Crows were looking for more goals, sniffing blood as the 10 of Corinthian started to wilt under the strain of keeping the rampant Crows at bay.
4-1 became 5-1 in the 85th minute, some really neat passing and movement saw Treleaven receive the ball on the edge of the area, a slide rule pass to his left found Muggeridge on the edge of the area and he curled a wonderful shot in to the top corner, the goalie didn't even move, what a goal.
In the 88th minute another free kick near the Corinthian area saw Carey put the ball in to the correct area of the box and Treleaven calmly knocked the ball in to the net, 6-1 now and 2 minutes later the referee signalled there would be a minimum of 4 minutes of added-on time, still time for one more perhaps we thought, although that would be very greedy.
There was one player who definitely wanted another goal and therefore, set about it himself to try and get the seventh goal. Muggeridge embarked on a solo run in the 90+2nd minute and finding himself near the by-line inside the Corinthian area, he coolly slotted the ball in to the net, he got his hat-trick and the Crows had their seventh goal.
The final whistle blew and the players went off to rapturous applause from all who watched this game, no one thought that 7-1 would be the final score before kick off and no one could quite believe it was the final score at the end, what a match and what a night.
