Who will have the best hand on Saturday?
Deal Town are the visitors to the Crowborough Community Stadium this Saturday for a fixture in the SCEFL, Premier Divison and will offer a stern test for our squad, who will be glad to have a home fixture at last having had to travel for the last couple of weeks.
The Hoops home and away record matches up with ours in the sense that most of the points the respective clubs have gathered have been accrued at home, whilst the away record has been disappointing.
They have the same number of points as us, 27, however, they have played one game less, 21 against our 22 and because we have a -9 goal difference and they have a positive goal difference of 1, they sit 10th in the table, whilst we are in 12th place in the table.
The Hoops have improved of late compared to earlier in the season when they were doing well in the FA Vase but not fairing so well in the league. However, they did catch a cold deck in their last outing, losing 4-1 away at title chasing Greenwich Borough, no disgrace in that though.
Deal Town are, of course, the only side from Kent to have won the FA Vase so far, although Tunbridge Wells did come close some three years ago by getting to the final at Wembley, only to eventually lose. Ashford United are flying the flag for Kent in this year's FA Vase and the have a home fixture against Dunstan UTS, who won the FA Vase themselves in 2011/12, this Saturday.
Therefore, who will hold the trump hand on Saturday, which players will prove to be diamonds or the jokers, will we have entertainment in spades and who will go home with broken hearts.
We'll all have to wait and find out as the respective managers shuffle their packs to snap out of the disappointment of their last fixtures.
