Muggsy’s men came into the game looking for back to back wins to keep momentum going into the final 10 games of the season that would follow, and they didn’t disappoint.
The visitors started fairly brightly for a few minutes, but The Crows had other ideas. 7 minutes into the game and some excellent defensive work from skipper Tom Boddy, cleared The Crows lines with a long ball into the Saltdean half. Lucas Murrain went after it and coolly slotted it home! There was no turning back, with Muggsy’s men beginning to go through the gears and take full control of the game.
Forster had a header saved, but 2 minutes later his luck came in. Vowels with some good work in the box before cutting back, the ball bobbled up and Forster got just enough on it to send the ball into the top corner.
The Crows were hungry for more as Leo Vowles, back in the right wing position for the evening rather than his customary right back role, Lucas Murrain with some excellent hold up play before playing Vowles in, who beat 2 defenders inside the box before firing over.
And Vowles was involved again, this time spinning his marker and leaving him for dust, heading the ball forward to himself to chase into the Saltdean area before hitting a cross to London at the back post, who put the ball back into the middle for the excellent Forster, who’s shot was closed down by the goalkeeper, before having a second attempt but was again bested by the goalkeeper on this occasion.
Forster was again involved - this time working hard to challenge for the ball, before getting the ball to Harry London, who calmly nodded home from close range.
Half time and The Crows had cruised into a 3-0 lead that was much deserved.
With the scoreline 3-0, and the busy schedule continuing, Muggsy opted to begin making substitutions early, Forster coming off shortly after the 2nd half began.
Jack Mayhew almost had a goal, as he dazzled his way through what seemed like the whole Saltdean team, twisting and turning, even losing the ball and winning it back, before almost scoring.
The Crows continued to dominate, with Harry London rolling the ball into Lucas Murrains path, he looked confident as he shot, but it went just over.
The Crows hadn’t taken their foot off the gas, and some lovely play between Lambert, Welsh and London almost yielded a 4th with Lambert shooting wide from 30 yards.
More subs followed that temporarily slowed The Crows momentum, and the visitors pulled one back on 81 minutes to give themselves a glimmer of hope. Tom Pearson, on as a sub for Man of the Match London wasn’t having any of it though, as he continued his fine run of form with a powerful shot, cutting in from the left just after the 90 was up.
Full Time: 4-1
Man of the Match: Harry London
