Our final game in January saw the Crows come up against high flying Eastbourne Town, who started the day in 6th, with the Crows sitting comfortably in 10th.
Eastbourne had the better of the opening 2 minutes, but after that it was Muggsy’s men who pretty much won every battle.
With an unchanged side from the unlucky 3-2 loss to Lingfield, The Crows came into what was billed to be a tough match looking like they had a point to prove.
The game felt like it was going to be a good one, as 10 minutes were on the clock, you could see that The Crows were at the races, with some neat play all the way through the team.
The deadlock was broken on 22 minutes, when The Crows were awarded a seemingly harmless free kick near the halfway line, but the delivery was superb, and Leo Vowles, who was on the scoresheet last week, took a touch and finished from about 8 yards out.
The rest was history, as The Crows were dominating by this point, everytime the ball went forward, there was real purpose and intent in the play. And just 10 minutes later, Vowles popped up with his and The Crows second. Tom Pearson had the ball in the area, on the left hand side, and jinked back, fooling the defender, before hitting a decent effort himself, that the keeper saved, but only to the feet of Leo Vowles who finished superbly.
Pearson was again the menace just before half time who’s shot wasn’t dealt with and it almost managed to squirm in, but just rolled the wrong side of the post - the resulting corner was met by Pearson but just over.
Half time and The Crows were 2 up and cruising.
But they didn’t take their foot off the gas, and could have had a third minutes after the restart, with a few players bidding to make the scoresheet, but Eastbourne, defending desperately, managed to get the ball away.
Every time the ball went into the attacking third, there could have been a goal, and on the hour mark Vowles slipped a lovely ball into Murrain, who was only denied because of the foot of the Eastbourne keeper.
Matt Larkin was not too busy throughout, but showed great concentration as the clock struck 90 with a brilliant save to keep a 3rd clean sheet in 4 games, incredible for the young keeper, making his breakthrough into senior football.
Full time was met by cheers from The Crows faithful, another game with outstanding support, with 333 on the gate, and a positive atmosphere throughout the game.
Full Time: 2-0
