DERES PROVE TOO STRONG FOR CROWS.

DERES PROVE TOO STRONG FOR CROWS.

Malcolm Boyes27 Jan 2015 - 14:58

The game and result went mainly with the league table as the Crows went down 4-1 at Park View Road.

Hatrick does for the Crows.
Erith & Belvedere completed the league double over the Crows on Saturday when they ran out 4-1 winners, having beaten us 3-0 at the Community Stadium earlier in the season.
In the first game it was Alfie May who tormented the defence by scoring a hat trick, even if two were penalties, however, even though he didn't score on Saturday, he did assist in three of the goals and another player, Marsh, did go home with the match ball for the three goals he scored.
Over the 90 minutes it would be hard to say they didn't deserve their win as they created more chances than the Crows and Collick was the busier goalkeeper of the two, having to make some brave and good saves to keep the score looking more respectable than perhaps it could have been.
The home side, needing the points to keep on the heels of leaders Phoenix Sports, were quick on the break and when going forward, with May, Marsh and Walker in particular, looking like they might score whenever they attacked.
Marsh opened the scoring for the home side after 10 minutes when he was allowed time and space to curl a right-footed shot past Collick following a flowing move and it looked like it might be a long afternoon for the Crow faithful who made the journey to Welling.
However, whilst the home side's strength is clearly from the midfield going forward, their defence doesn't seem to be as strong and the Crows did not let going 1-0 down early on get to them, as on 16 minutes it was 1-1, Ademiluyi putting a shot in which Kamurasi, in the DERES goal, could only parry out and up to the marauding Tom Cameron who nodded the ball into the net.
As with the Crows when going 1-0 down, conceding the goal made the home side attack even more and two minutes later, they were back in front, Marsh finishing neatly at the near post following a cross put in by Walker, therefore, after 18 minutes it was 2-1 to the home side.
The teams traded attack for attack, Ademiluyi, Carrington and Death having chances for the visitors and May and Marsh having chances for the home side, who also had a goal disallowed for offside, something that happened to them on quite a few occasions during the 90 minutes.
The second half started with the home side in a very determined mood and whilst the Crows would still have felt they were in the game, it was only because Collick made stop after stop in the early stages of the half.
After 54 minutes it could have been 2-2 but Ademiluyi's effort hits the post and rebounds out to safety, definitely a case of "so near, yet so far" and on 59 minutes the Crows make their first substitution, Ridley replacing Death as they search for the elusive equaliser.
With chances coming and going at both ends it was never going to remain 2-1 until the end and so it proved, Marsh getting his third of the day on 73 minutes and his reward was to be substituted almost immediately, therefore, it was 3-1 to the home side and the points looked safe in their hands.
Probably the best forward for the Crows on the day was Ademiluyi who caused the home defence many problems during the game and on 74 minutes Carrington, who had worked tirelessly upfront all game, was replaced by Funnell as the Crows tried to get themselves back in the match.
Unfortunately, debutant for the Deres, Adjei, who had replaced the Erith & Belvedere hero of the day, Marsh, made it 4-1 on 78 minutes and the match was definitely over for the Crows.
Immediately Butler replaced Hinkson and the game petered out with the home side still on top, Collick having to make three outstanding saves and the defence had to defend stoutly to keep it at 4-1.
In the end the table doesn't lie, we are where we are and overall the top clubs are there, just as they are in any league, because they have the better players and better finance than the Crows do.
The players are making a good fist of things in their first season in this league, which is a learning curve for all concerned but now they need to put this result behind them and start concentrating on their up coming semi final against Loxwood on Wednesday night at Culver Road, Lancing.
