Better luck next week, we hope.
On a day when the match was precluded by a period of reflection and a minutes applause out of respect for our former U18 goalkeeper Tom Callingham, who sadly past away earlier in the week after a short illness, you would think that a 0-0 draw was not the best way to celebrate the life of a young person taken away from all who knew him too soon.
However, we are sure Tom would be the first to applaud the many fine saves made by the visiting goalkeeper, Justin Lee, who performed heroically throughout the 90 minutes to keep the rampant Crow forwards at bay and help his side take a point back with them to Bermondsey.
The first meeting between the two clubs could never be described as dull, as both teams had attacking intentions however, despite having inspirational skipper Barton missing through suspension and top-scorer Treleaven through injury, it was the Crows who had the sway on possession and chances whilst Fisher had more of any luck going when the Crows did actually beat the Fisher custodian.
Ridley and Ademiluyi were prominent for the home side from the start and after combining well earned a couple of early corners, the first being cleared eventually and the second giving centre back Trotter a chance but his header is down and wide of the goal.
Carrington has a snap shot saved well by the Fisher goalkeeper whilst at the other end, following a good move down the Crow's left, Roche has sight of Collick's goal but fires over. Carrington then gets a foul awarded against him as he tracks back to make a tackle and from the resulting free kick, Collick had to make an instinctive one handed save from an angled drive.
With the Crows doing most of the attacking against the resolute defence of Fisher, the game turned in to the Justin Lee show for a while as he pulled of one save after another, denying Cameron and Death in quick succession with outstanding saves.
Collick then made a good save at the feet of the on rushing Bell but normal service was soon resumed with Clarke going on one of his majestic runs and firing in a shot from the edge of the Fisher area which goes fractionally over the bar, much to the relief of the away fans in attendance.
Ademiluyi performed another piece of magic on the wing and as his cross came over Carrington prepared himself for one of his trademark over head kicks which beats 'keeper Lee all ends up but smacks the cross bar rather than rippling the back of the net.
Cameron then got forward and put in a deep cross that Ademiluyi met full on but Lee and his defenders somehow kept the ball out of the net and the score remained 0-0.
With the Crows dominating, the luckless Carrington hit the crossbar twice more before the half time interval, the 'keeper totally beaten on each occasion and whilst a 0-0 scoreline at half time normally indicates a stale game, this was anything but, with most people thinking it was only a matter of time.
The second period started in much the same style as the first ended, Carrington being the main provocateur and it was he who turned his marker only to lob the ball wide, albeit from a tight angle.
The away side had obviously taken note of Ademiluyi's performance in the first half and in the second they doubled or even tripled up on him and even then they had to foul him to stop him progressing in to their half or area.
Clarke then went off injured to be replaced by Funnell, Death had a good effort saved by Lee and following a melee in the Fisher area, Ademiluyi's goal bound effort was blocked by his own team mate and eventually cleared.
Fisher right back and captain, Wise, received a yellow card for persistently fouling Ademiluyi and their management then decided to take him off and bring on Junior Jaimes whilst Death is replaced by Connor Saunders for the Crows as Muggeridge decided to shuffle the pack, in search of the elusive first goal their play deserved.
Fuller then looked to have broken the deadlock but Lee makes a terrific save, palming the shot over the bar. Ridley then put over a great cross which was met by the out stretched foot of Carrington but yet again the ball hit the crossbar for the fourth time, to deny Carrington yet again.
The home supporters were still thinking it's just a matter of time as the chances still flowed, Ridley striking a good free kick which Lee did well to save and hold on to. Ridley then sent Carrington clear and he shot with the outside of his foot, it beat Lee but hit the cross bar yet again for the fifth time.
The away side grew in confidence as chances for the Crows came and went and they had one or two of their own but the final ball just let them down. Ademiluyi then had to be stretchered off for the Crows and was replaced by James Lattimer, making his second debut for the club after some 10 years.
For a 0-0 this was a terrific game to watch, Fisher and 'keeper Lee will be happy with a point but perhaps the Crows will be disappointed that a game, on another day, they would have won quite comfortably, eluded them as well as any luck that was going on the day.
Fisher brought some great vocal support with them which made for an entertaining afternoon at the Community Stadium and it's better to have created the chances, even if you do miss them, rather than not being able to create any at all.
Therefore, it's five games without defeat as we look forward to visiting Lingfield next Saturday, weather permitting of course and it could be another match full of chances as we beat them 7-2 at home earlier in the season when every chance we had, went in, unlike yesterday.
