After a disappointing result but good performance on Saturday against peacehaven on Saturday we faced an away trip to lingfield (or whyteleafe depending what day you play them) hoping for improved fortunes on Tuesday night)
Lingfield started brighter and after squandering a couple of chances took the lead when a low cross deflected off Tom Boddy and hit a post and despite ben head grabbing the ball off the line the referee allowed a goal to stand.
At this point both Dave and myself thought our luck was going to be out again but as the half went on and lingfield wasted more chances we realised that luck was on our side as we managed to get to half time at 0-1.
A few stern words at half time saw a totally different crows side in the second half and despite losing Harry Thompson to two bookable offences on the hour mark we equalised through a well taken Tom Saunders goal who had run 40 yards and finished expertly passed the keeper.
Two minutes later and it was Nathan Millroy bursting into the area only to be brought down for a penalty. Tom Saunders took it and made it 2-1.
Then it was lingfield's turn to come back at us and a great cross into the box was finished into the net by a lingfield players hand. Fortunately the linesman had seen it and the player was subsequently booked and as it was his second yellow he was sent off.
At ten aside there was only going to be one winner and two more goals followed from Nathan Millroy who rounded the keeper and finished calmly from an acute angle and Charlie Ottway who raced clear on his first meaningful run with the ball and fired a low shot into the bottom corner.
Lingfield managed a late consolation from a corner that never was but we held our nerve and deservedly walked away 4-2 winners.
We have found some consistency in our performances in the league recently and now need to make sure we take points from them. Chichester Saturday with things looking positive.
