After saying last week against Lancing couldn't play any worse I was wrong.
Today against an average Erith Town side the Crows continued to give away sloppy goals with defending that would be more likely to be seen in division six of the West Kent Sunday League (no disrespect to the WKSL).
Dave Adams had a chance after just 10 seconds to put the Crows in front but pulled his shot across the face of the goal when clean through on goal and for the first ten minutes the visitors bossed the game before keeper Ben Head missed his kick to allow the pacey Erith forward to nick the ball and score the first of his hat-trick.
The Boro heads dropped straight away and from then on they were chasing the game make mistake after mistake allowing Erith to take control of the game and a 3-0 half time lead which was increased to 4 shortly after half time. Crowborough made three changes replacing Adams, Wood and Saunders with Thompson, Ottway and Lee and at least showed some fight as they quickly pulled two goals back to put the home side under pressure but more poor defending allowed Erith to easily wrap the game up.
The score could have been worse if Head had not saved a penalty to make up for his earlier howler.
Dave Adams quickly needs to install some confidence and cut out the defensive errors otherwise it could be a long hard season ahead.
On to Tuesday night and a home fixture against St Francis and hopefully a committed and error free performance.
