Following Tunbridge Wells 3-2 penalties victory over Tonbridge Angels U'18, the spectators at Rusthall looked forward with anticipation to the next semi-final between the 2010/11 Courier Cup holders (and home club) Rusthall and Crowborough Athletic.
Following a fairly even first half which Crowborough looked the sharpest, the score line remained 0 - 0. Hard work upfront by Naz Rouane went unrewarded, with both Jake Forward and Scott Treleaven standing out for the Crows. A surging run from full back, Jonny Hampson, resulted in a shot that rattled the Rusthall crossbar - just getting his range this time.
The second half started with both teams trying to get on the front foot, but soon after making our first substitution, Scott Treleaven broke free down the left and his shot found the back of the net via the far goalpost, 1- 0. Further substitutions from both sides did not disrupt the flow of the game and following a mistake by Ben Head in the Crowborough goal, Rusthall equalised, 1-1.
Crowborough pushed on creating a number of good chances and eventually the persistence of Naz Rouane resulted in his shot hitting the Rusthall post only for Jonny Hampson to strike the ball from outside the penalty box into the goal, 2-1.
Rusthall pushed everyone forward in the last few minutes looking for an equaliser but the Crows held on for a 2 – 1 victory.
