CROWS SAIL THROUGH TO THE 5TH ROUND OF THE FA VASE.

Malcolm Boyes10 Jan 2017 - 11:41

In front of 461 spectators, the Crows put the visitors to the sword and ran out easy 6-0 winners in the end.

5th Round draw held Monday lunchtime.
This will be a truncated match report, thank god I hear you cry, as I was not able to attend the match in person, family matters preventing my attendance and therefore, I'm writing this based on information supplied to me via the club Twitter account.
I'm very grateful to Crows Unofficial for covering for me at short notice and for doing such a fantastic job of keeping those of us who couldn't be there up to date with the action and making us feel part of what was a great day for Crowborough Athletic FC.
As for the match itself the Crows started on top and never let their grip go throughout the 90 minutes. Sam Crabb seemed to be on a personal mission to score his second goal for the club in this game, having at least three first half efforts saved by Nessling in the Town goal and the 'keeper seemed to be doing his best to make sure the former Eastbourne Town player didn't score against him.
Eventually the pressure had to tell and in the 24th minute the Crows went 1-0 up, Ross Treleaven was set free of the Town defence and he coolly slipped the ball under Nessling and into the corner of the net, a superb finish.
The home side continued to pen the visitors back and it was 2-0 in the 37th minute, a corner was put over to the far post and another former Town player, Jack Turner, rose above his marker to head the ball passed Nessling and into the net.
Just before half time it became 3-0, Nessling made a fine save but from the resulting corner Vickers made it 3-0 with his first goal for the Crows and in reality it was now game over as the players went off for their half time break.
Both teams made substitutions at the interval, Sotoyinbo came on to replace Strevett for Town and Muggeridge was replaced by Clarke and it was the latter who had the first impact as he was adjudged to have been pushed inside the penalty area in the 47th minute therefore, Attwood stepped up to bury the penalty and it became 4-0 to the Crows.
The fourth goal killed the game in truth as a real contest and the Crows didn't need to stretch themselves any further but to carry on in a professional way and see the game out until the finish. Still, Nessling made two good saves from Crabb before the Crow was replaced by substitute Shea in the 63rd minute as the Crows looked to use the rest of the game to give returning players game time.
Clarke then saw a yellow card in the 71st minute for a tackle, which is not his forte it must be said, and two minutes later Treleaven was replaced by the Crows last substitute, Tom Pearson. Town decided to alter things around and Cumming-Bart was replaced by Botting in the 74th minute but the chances still came for the Crows, Pearson and Clarke both had efforts saved or blocked before it became 5-0 in the 81st minute, Turner with his second headed goal of the day after being left unmarked in the Town area.
Town made their last substitution in the 84th minute, Archibald going off and Tyler Capon coming on however, 5-0 became 6-0 only a minute later as Shea played a neat 1-2 with Attwood before putting the ball in the back of the net.
Just before the end Bolwell picked up a yellow card for Eastbourne Town and right on the 90 minutes the referee decided enough was enough and the final whistle went so it was the Crows who march on to the 5th Round of the Buildbase FA Vase.
