The previous league game played in hot sunny conditions in August resulted in a one nil reversal for the Crows so there was a spirit of optimism among the home support although Hollands & Blair have seemingly gone from strength to strength since that encounter scoring goals for fun.
Once again Sean had to shuffle the dwindling pack with players unavailable due to illness and injury, resulting in a late call up for Morgan Steadman who was making his first appearance since breaking his wrist two months ago.
After a period when both sides showed attacking promise it was Hollands & Blair who went into a quick 2 nil advantage after 30 minutes with both goals from leading goal scorer McDonald. However this Crows side never gives up and soon the score was 2 all. The first goal was the result of a great solo effort by Wayne Clarke, the second from Josh Biddlecombe via the penalty spot after he was fouled. Half time 2 all.
Unfortunately for the Crows that little bit of luck once again was missing as almost immediately after half time a cross was unfortunately diverted into his own net by Dan Tear, making the score now 3 – 2 to the visitors.
The game was now peppered with a number of fouls and the Crows were very unlucky not to be awarded another penalty following a foul on Biddlecombe by the goalkeeper which unfortunately the officials missed. After this incident the referee began to get more involved in the game awarding yellow cards to both sides. Some would say too late and to the wrong team/players.
With the Crows pushing for an equaliser, the visitors again restored their two goal advantage with a goal from Michelson. The game then came to a conclusion with the noise of the referees whistle being heard too many times.
Congratulations to Hollands & Blair but the score line did not reflect the effort put in by the Crows who were missing many key players.
