In-house game on Thursday probably cost us.
Despite suffering their first pre-season defeat on Saturday, the Crows are showing signs that a formation of a squad and a team are starting to come to the fore as we head towards the start of the season.
It seemed from the kick-off that a few last-minute changes and the in-house training game the players had on Thursday night may have had an adverse effect, however, these are not excuses, the Crows knew they would be up against a good side and they were definitely the better team in the first 15 or 20 minutes.
Town took the lead after only 5 minutes, some confusion between goalkeeper Hampson and defender Kevin Everest ended up with the latter putting the ball into his own net and therefore, Town were 1-0 up.
The visitors still held the upper hand during this period and after 15 minutes, it was ex-Crow, Jack Turner, that made it 2-0 to the Town, a lead they thoroughly deserved at the time.
The Crows then made some changes and gradually they started to get back in to the game and started to play some neat football which let them wrestle the possession away from the Town.
Paul Butler, with a lob over the visiting goalkeeper from some 25 yards out after 67 minutes, made it 2-1 and it was then all Crows until the end of the game, however, some fine saves from the Town stopper, kept the score at 2-1 to them and that's how it ended.
It was a great workout for the players against a very good and organised Eastbourne Town side and it has given the management some things to consider and what to work on in training ahead of the first league game on Saturday, 8th August.
