MISSED CHANCES COST CROWS DEAR IN THE END.

Malcolm Boyes29 Jan 2015 - 13:45

One of those games which can, quite correctly, be described as a game of two halves and had the Crow's finishing been better then they would have won.

Chance of getting to a final slips through the net yet again.
Loxwood reached the final of the Sussex Principal RUR Charity Cup after making the Crows pay for missed chances in the first-half.
Shaun Findlay and then Ollie Gill goals gave Dave Cocoracchio’s side a 2-0 win which will see them take on either Eastbourne Town or Arundel in the final.
The Crows started very well and were unfortunate not to go ahead inside two minutes. Callum Ridley found space 25 yards out, and hit a great strike that had keeper Sam Smith well beaten, but only for his shot to come back off the bar. The ball bounced away from Sam Carrington, who was looking to pounce on the rebound, before Jack Funnell could only fire wide from inside the area.
Despite not really getting into the game in the early stages, Loxwood had a great chance to go in front when Dean Wright was allowed to run on to a ball into the penalty area, but could only poke the ball over the bar from six yards with keeper Nick Collick already committed.
At the other end Funnell blazed over from a tight angle for Crowborough after Jason Barton flicked on Ryan Hinkson’s free kick, before Sean Muggeridge’s side created the best chance of the half, if not the match.
Funnell worked his way through into the area, and then found Michael Ademiluyi in space just twelve yards out, but he could only fire wide of the post when one-on-one with the keeper.
The Crows then came even closer before break, as Carrington’s ball in from the left picked out an unmarked Ryan Waterman, whose effort back across goal beat Smith, but only for Tom Summerfield to clear off the line. The clearance came back off Funnell, but the ball looped over the bar.
The second-half, in contrast, was a much different affair. Wright saw an effort well saved by an outstretched Collick, before the Magpies went ahead just after the hour mark.
A ball in from the right eventually fell to the feet of Findlay after Tim Martin saw his effort blocked, and his effort from eight yards took a big deflection to take the ball away from the wrong-footed Collick and into the bottom corner.
Loxwood looked a changed side in the second-half, with the Crows failing to show the attacking threat that they had in the first forty five minutes.
Carrington fired wide from the edge of the area, with Barton seeing his scuffed effort comfortably saved by the diving Smith as the Crows looked to draw level, but Loxwood remained in the driving seat.
Collick got down brilliantly to turn Wright’s low drive around the post with the ball destined for the bottom corner, before Cocoracchio’s side made sure of the victory with just minutes left.
With Crowborough on the offensive, Loxwood broke swiftly as substitute Mark Cave played a great ball through to Gill, who still had a lot to do from a tight angle but his drive across goal went beyond the reach of the keeper and into the far bottom corner.
