Crowborough Athletic produced an excellent performance Wednesday night to win at fellow strugglers East Grinstead Town, and as a result move above Grinstead to third from bottom, which takes Dave Adams’ reign as manager to 10 points from 12. Man of the Match Sam Carrington broke the deadlock for Boro, before Sam Reid diverted a corner into his own net before the interval. However, their was still time for Carrington to put the Crows ahead in stoppage time. Scott Treleaven netted a third for Crowborough in the second half to pile on the misery for ex-Crows boss Steve Johnson.

Crowborough came close to scoring on 12 minutes, when Treleaven’s long throw was flicked on by Reid to Carrington at the far post, but he somehow fired over from close range.
Then Dave Adams’ free-kick was cleared, but only as far as Thom Nowell, whose shot from the edge of the area was gathered by Liam Lindsay.
On 26, it was 1-0 to the visitors. Adams’ low cross was picked up by Tom Saunders at the near post, who dinked the ball to Carrington in the middle, and he headed the ball away from the scrambling Lindsay and into the far corner.
Minutes later, Nowell came close as his dipped strike was pushed away by the diving Lindsay.
East Grinstead then broke, as Mannie Neville knocked the ball long to Drew Crush, who found himself through on goal, but only for his effort to go wide of the far corner.
The hosts then equalized on 43. Simon Funnell’s corner in ended up in the far corner via a deflection of Reid, and stood despite appeals from the Crows for a foul on the blocked Rob Gordon.
However, Carrington had the last word as he steered Crowborough infront in first half stoppage time. John Hampson’s long free-kick found its way to the striker, who took the ball around the advancing Lindsay and drive the ball into the far corner of the empty net.

Town then should’ve levelled, when Crush’s cross picked out Funnell, who was only able to head wide of the far post.
Crowborough made their hosts pay for this missed chance on 62, when Treleaven made it 3-1. Carrington received a long ball from the back, and took on Marc Pelling. He then unselfishly laid the ball across to the run of Treleaven, who drilled the ball away from Lindsay and into the near corner.
Boro then thought they had a fourth on 72, when Thom Nowell’s free-kick found Adams, whose shot was saved by Lindsay, and sub Chris Ransome had his effort smothered, but only to find Treleaven, who drove the ball into the top near corner from 12 yards. However, Ransome was judged to have been offside.
East Grinstead came close to reducing the deficit late on, as Kieran Wilson’s cross found the head of Crush, but his header rebounded off the far post.

Crowborough now host Arundel Saturday (13th), before travelling to Redhill next Saturday (20th).
