Crowborough Athletic will feel ecstatic to pick up a thoroughly deserved point after coming back from 2 goals down twice at home to mid-table Crawley Down.

Crawley Down started on the front foot, as Dan Sullivan’s free-kick picked out Nick Sullivan who headed narrowly over the bar.
Boro then came close as Dan Tear’s ball in found Ed Willoughby, whose low left foot volley was saved by Shayne Goldsmith.
Down took the lead on 21, as Nick Sullivan’s corner picked out Dan Sullivan, whose header beat the scrambling Rob Gordon to find the far corner.
Moments later, Aaron Watson’s cross picked out the towering Tony Reid, whose header beat Gordon, but only to rattle the bar, only for Crawley to double their lead on 32. Noel Etherington played the ball down the left to Dan Sullivan, who took the ball goal wards from the wing, and drive beneath the diving Gordon and into the far bottom corner from a tight angle, before the midfielder came inches away from netting his hat-trick, as he saw his effort from the edge of the area rebound off the far post.

Crowborough came out a different side second half, as they controlled the first quarter of an hour.
On 54, Nathan Millroy’s clever backheel found the path of Willoughby, whose cross found Sam Reid at the far post, and he drilled his volley past the diving Goldsmith and into the net from the edge of the area.
Moments later, Crowborough were level. Millroy was again involved, with an excellent ball into the area finding the feet of Sam Carrington, who flicked the ball away from his marker to drill the ball past the advancing Goldsmith to find the near corner.
However, Crawley got going again and were soon back in front. Mark McGibbon played the ball across to Tony Reid, who laid back to the oncoming Matt Beeston, and he drove the ball low past the diving Gordon and deflected in off the far post.
Then Dan Sullivan’s free-kick was well saved by the diving keeper, but the rebound fell to Sam Cane, who despite appearing to be offside, headed in to make it 4-2 to the visitors.
Then Charlie Ottway was introduced to make his first home appearance for the Crows, and the County Youth player immediately had an impact. Dave Adams’ excellent ball cross-field found Willoughby, who nodded the ball into the path of Ottway, but his effort went inches wide of the far corner, with Goldsmith well beaten.
On 83, Adams again played a sublime ball over the top of the Crawley defence to find Ottway, who raced clear to take the ball away from Goldsmith and drive in to bring the Crows back into the game.
On 87, the Crowborough Community Stadium erupted.
Substitute Elliot Kelly did well to find the impressive Ottway, who was left sprawled by Jahmahl King, and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Dave Adams showed no sign of nerves as he stepped up to drive the ball away from the reach of the diving Goldsmith and into the bottom corner to level things up for the Crows.
