Crowborough Athletic were dealt another blow in their Sussex County Division One campaign as they were beaten by high-flying Peacehaven & Telscombe, largely thanks to three goals in the first quarter of an hour in the second period.

Peacehaven began on the front foot, as Craig Bunch’s cross from the right found Callum Saunders, whose low volley from the edge of the area beat the diving Alex Williams to find the bottom corner.
On 27, the visitors nearly doubled their lead when Bunch saw his free-kick from 20 yards go narrowly over the top near corner.
The Crows showed signs of troubling the Haven goal, as Ashley John-Baptiste won the ball off of Carl Dunk, but his drive sailed over the bar.
Then Crowborough took control, as Tom Saunders’ ambitious effort from 30 yards was cautiously pushed over by the scrambling Jake Buss.
On 42, Dave Adams’ corner picked out Jon Trotter whose header went just over.
Moments later, Scott Treleaven’s long throw found Trotter at the near post, but his header went into the side netting of the near post.
Just before the interval, Tom Saunders laid the ball to James Pallett, and his low drive was saved by the diving Buss.

However, Crowborough started the second half in the worst way possible.
On 50, Callum Saunders tumbled over under a Adams challenge, and the referee pointed to the spot. Callum Saunders stepped up to send Williams the wrong way to double the visitors’ lead.
Moments later, it was 3-0. Callum Saunders’ ball played in Andy Wilkinson, who did well to drill the ball across Williams and into the far bottom corner.
Then Wilkinson played the ball in from the left to Bunch, but he diverted the ball narrowly wide of the far corner.
It was 4-0 after the hour. Stu Garrod crossed the ball in to Wilkinson, who stroked the ball beyond Williams and into the net.
Peacehaven missed a great chance to increase their lead further, as Callum Saunders’ through ball played in substitute Rob O’Toole, who took the ball around Williams, but only to fire wide of the near post.
Crowborough’s luck was summed up late on, as substitute Nathan Millroy played in Elliott Wood, who one on one with Buss, failed to score as his effort was held by the diving keeper.

Crowborough travel to Lingfield Tuesday night, before travelling to Selsey Saturday, in a massive match for both sides.
