Despite going in 4-0 down at the break, Crowborough Athletic produced a fantastic second half display, but got nothing to show for their efforts at title challengers Wick.

Changes to last weeks side saw Alex Williams, Iain Meek, Dave Adams, Jon Trotter and Elliot Wood all start for the Crows due to a large number injuries and suspensions.

Crowborough started well in the first 5 minutes, as Wood had a shot held by Alex Bryant, before Wick broke and broke the deadlock.
Simon Clayton struck the ball across goal to George Gaskin at the far post who drilled away from Williams and into the net from close range.
The hosts then had a lengthy spell of pressure. Darren Pearce played the ball through to Scott Murfin, who one on one with Williams, saw his effort excellently saved by the advancing keeper.
Wick doubled their lead on 10 minutes. Phil Turner squared the ball from the right to Scott Murfin, who slid infront of Meek at the back post and found the near corner.
Turner found Murfin again, this time down the right, and his drive was well saved by the feet of Williams.
Wick made it three on 24 as Scott Murfin’s drilled shot found the near corner, despite Williams getting a glove on it.
Wick increased their lead further just two minutes later. Turner found the unmarked Clayton, who slotted the ball away from the helpless Williams and into the near corner.
Crowborough ended on the front foot, when Ross Campbell found Nathan Millroy out on the left, before he cut inside of Lee Barnard, but his drive was saved by the diving Bryant. Chris Ransome pounced onto the rebound, but his effort across went wide of the goal.

The Crows began well second half, as Campbell played in Millroy, who from a tight angle had his effort smothered by Bryant. Meek then excellently found the feet of Wood, who passed to Sam Carrington, and the striker’s brilliant ball played in Millroy, but he only blazed over.
Wick then had a spell of pressure. Dave Sharman played the ball over to Scott Murfin who burst clear, but Williams did fantastically well to deny the league’s top scorer. Ben Torode then launched the ball forward from defence to play in Scott Murfin, but he blazed over in a one on one situation.
Boro came close to grabbing a goal back on 71, as Campbell took the ball forward before his low effort beat the diving Bryant, but only to go inches wide of the far corner.
The visitors tired in the last 15 minutes, and Wick took full advantage.
On 77, Neil Murfin played in Scott Murfin, but his strike was brilliantly saved by the feet of Williams.
The hosts made it 5-0 moments later. Substitute Josh Sutcliffe played the ball in to Scott Murfin, whose header somehow crept in past Williams after deflecting off the far post.
In the final moments, Bryant’s long drop kick found the run of Scott Murfin whose brilliantly lob over Williams found the net from 25 yards.

Crowborough now travel to Arundel on Saturday in the FA Vase Second Round Proper.
