After a win last Saturday, confidence was high in the Crowborough camp going into this match at Chichester City, and after equalising early on, but Chichester instantly netted twice in two minutes, and Boro never got a hold on the match thereafter.

Crowborough went behind just 3 minutes in. Jack James’ cross from the right found the unmarked Drew Moore, and his volley crept beyond the diving Rob Gordon and in off the post.
Boro then went on the attack, as Ross Campbell’s blocked pass fell to Scott Treleaven, whose well hit drive from range was exquisitely pushed away by Ben Hitchman.
The Crows levelled seconds later, as a cross into the area went over Tom Broadbent, and fell to Campbell, who lobbed the ball over the advancing keeper and into net.
However, Chichester went up the other end at got two quick fire goals.
Firstly, Joe Briggs’ cross from the right found Callum Cutler at the near post, and he flicked the ball across the diving Gordon and into the far corner.
Then James Archer’s scuffed corner found Shawn Benjamin on the edge of the area, and he had bags of time to look up and drive the ball low past the helpless Gordon and into the corner.
Crowborough did show signs of a threat, as Hitchman’s goal kick was well won by the returning Tom Boddy, and found Treleaven, whose drilled shot whistled narrowly wide.
Boro did get back into the match before half-time, when Campbell’s low cross found Dave Adams, who slid the ball across to Treleaven, who beat the offside to fire into the near corner.

Crowborough started well second half, as Adams’ inswinging corner picked out Sam Reid at the far post, but his towering header went narrowly over the top far corner.
Chichester then came close to extending their lead, when Lee Mullen’s cross was punched away by keeper, and the ball fell to James, whose drilled effort was brilliantly tipped over by the diving Gordon.
The hosts did add to their lead on 52. James’ cross found Moore, who got infront of Boddy to stab the ball into the near corner.
On 79, Moore found substitute Alex Brown, whose drive was brilliantly saved by the diving Gordon.
Crowborough applied pressure late on, as Joe Risby’s corner was punched away, but only as far as Treleaven, and his drive was denied by a good reflex save by the Hitchman.
Late on, substitute Risby’s free-kick from 20 yards went wide of the wall, but the outstretched keeper made a good diving save.

Crowborough now travel to Three Bridges Saturday in a game where a much improved performance could result in bringing something back to the Crowborough Community Stadium.
