It was an opportunity to kick-start their season, and Scott Osbourne’s Crowborough Athletic failed to disappoint, as they came back from neighbours Ringmer with a fantastic team performance, and a place in the second round of the FA Vase.

Crowborough Athletic came out and started well first half, as Chris Ransome’s cross was only half cleared, and the ball fell to Ross Campbell, who laid off to Sam Reid, whose deflected drive was saved by Sean McFadden.
However, Ringmer broke, and out of the blue took the lead. Darren Lok’s cross found Jo-Jo Tubon, who flicked the ball up before his overhead kick from just inside the area went beyond the helpless Rob Gordon and into the roof of the net.
The Crowborough team a few weeks ago would’ve now had their heads down and invite pressure, but this team, under Osbourne’s guidance, battled back and soon equalized.
Scott Whibley tackled excellently, before his exquisite pass found Luke Leppard, who from 25 yards, released a right foot thunderbolt which dipped beyond the outstretched McFadden and into the top corner.
Crowborough were now in complete control, and sensationally took the lead on 32. Reid excellently hooked the ball with his left foot over the Ringmer defence, and played in Scott Treleaven, who beat the offside flag to volley the ball over the advancing McFadden and into the far corner.
Despite this, Ringmer then switched on, and equalized. Lok crossed the ball low to the edge of the box, where Mark Price was to drive goalward, and the ball took a deflection, and as a result beat the diving Gordon to find the near corner.

Ringmer applied pressure at the start of the second period. Matt Percival had his strike from range sensationally tipped around the post by the outstretched Gordon.
Before the hour, Kiefer Ardaen-Webb found Lok, who twisted through, but only to fire wide of the near post.
Nathan Millroy then replaced Joe Risby, and the substitute made an instant impact, as his good ball through the Ringmer area picked out Ross Campbell at the far post, but he fired over.
Crowborough then soared to cloud 9 14 minutes from time. Tom Saunders’ brave header was flicked on by Reid, who flicked the ball across McFadden, but only for the ball to rebound off the far post, but Ransome pounced to get infront of Alex Mikolay and nod in from close range.
Moments later, Ringmer were nearly level again, as David Altendorf had his low strike excellently held by the diving Gordon.
Jamie Buckett then came on for Saunders, but as the hosts piled on the pressure late on, The Crows broke and nearly added to their lead deep into stoppage time. Buckett played in Treleaven who ran through one on one with the keeper, but only to fire inches over the bar.

Crowborough now have a tough match, as they travel to Chichester City in the League on Saturday.
