An outstanding performance from a young Crowborough Athletic side meant that they beat Arundel at Mill Lane, despite going a goal down, to record a much needed first win of the season.

Crowborough started well, and came close 4 minutes in, as Sam Carrington latched onto a ball over the top, before laying the ball across to Nathan Millroy, who stroked the ball wide of the near post from the edge of the area.
Ben Head then made a good save in the Crows goal, as Russell Hardwell took the ball across from the right, but his low drive was well saved by the feet of the keeper.
Boro were soon back on the attack, as Carrington beat Tom Foster, beat could only blaze the ball high and wide of the top corner.
Before the interval, Millroy found himself one on one with Gavin Arnell, but only to slot the ball narrowly wide of the far post.

In a much more eventful second period, Arundel found themselves a goal up moments in.
Sam Reid lost the ball to Dave Hall, whose shot from range beat the standing Head, and dipped into the top corner. Just the start Crowborough didn’t want.
However, they creditably didn’t put their heads down, and in substitutes Jamie Buckett and Aaron Shade, they bounced back and deservedly equalised as the pair began to cause trouble in the opposing defence with their pace.
Reid’s cross was cleared, but only as far as Millroy, whose low drive was spilled by the diving Arnell, and Buckett pounced, but the debutant’s effort was smothered by the scrambling keeper. But fortunately for the Crows, Shade was there to steer the ball away from the sprawled Arnell and into the far corner.
Arundel then broke, and somehow missed a glorious chance to regain the lead. Hardwell played in Josh Biggs, who scooped the ball over from close range.
Late on, Crowborough then sensationally took the lead. Millroy’s excellent ball through played in the impressive Buckett, who used his pace to burst through to go one on one with Arnell, and kept his composure to slide the ball away from the advancing keeper and into the far bottom corner.
Boro came close to extending their lead late on, as Shade’s shot bent and dipped before zipping off the turf, and Arnell hastily pushed the ball over.
