After a disappointing run of defeats, the Crows bounced back in style at the Crowborough Community Stadium with a thoroughly deserved 6-2 victory over Worthing United. Adams side put in a much improved performance which could have seen them extend their margin of victory even more then just the 4 goals.
Adams and Grimbo fired up the young Crows to put right their disappointing recent form and the home side came flying out of the blocks. The returning Scott Taylor struck the bar with a fantastic shot from 25 yards in the opening minutes and Sam Carrington broke through one on one but couldn't finish past the onrushing Worthing keeper. The Crows enjoyed the vast majority of possession however the visitors broke the deadlock when a ball delivered into the box was diverted past Ben Head by Shepherd to open the scoring after 15 minutes.
Going a goal behind did not change the Crows mentality as they continued to string together good passing moves and created a number of chances. The home side forced a number of corners and Tom Boddy converted one of them to draw the Crows level after 24 minutes. A two minute spell just before half time put the Crows out of sight of their opponents with a quickfire double. First some good work down the left flank from Ross Campbell and Mike Culverhouse saw the ball fall to Taylor who bent the ball home from 20 yards out. Almost immediately from kick off the Crows hunted the ball back down, Campbell flicked a header through the visitors defence and Carrington tucked the ball home.
The second half continued in much the same fashion as the first with the Crows looking comfortable. The Crows midfield of Paul Butler, Callum Ridley and Scott Taylor completely outfought and outplayed the visitors with both Ridley and Taylor particularly impressing. The Crows extended their lead further when Carrington forced a good save from the Worthing keeper, who also parried Ridley's powerful follow up before the ball fell again back to Carrington who chipped the ball home.
The visitors did pull a goal back through a wonderful strike from Adams that rattled in off the crossbar. The Crows however were determined not to let their opponents back into the game and continued to exert their dominance on the match. A free kick won out wide by Culverhouse was whipped into the box dangerously by Alex Rich and Butler powered home a header to make it 5-2. The scoring was rounded off in the 90th minute when Alex McEwan broke past the Worthing defence, rounded the keeper but saw his effort cleared off the line but only as far as the onrushing Tom Pearson who made it 6 for the Crows.
