Rob O’Toole gave the visitors the lead within the opening 10 minutes, before Charlie Ottway capitalised on a defensive mix-up to head the Crows level, and despite both sides creating opportunities to win all three points, the scores remained level to move Boro up a place to 12th.
Crowborough began brightly, with Harry Thompson firing narrowly over on two occasions early on, before Peacehaven created their first opportunity. Matt Hill played the ball down the left to ex-Crows player Wes Tate, whose cross-come-shot floated over Ben Head, only to graze the top of the crossbar.
Haven then broke the deadlock as Adam Kneller found O’Toole on the left, who cut inside well from the wing before drilling a superb effort from 25 yards away from Head and into the bottom corner.
However, the hosts bounced straight back into the game and equalised within ten minutes of falling behind. A long ball into the visitors’ penalty area sparked a mix-up between Matt Hill and goalkeeper Joe Adams, which lead to the defender heading the ball over his own keeper, leaving the alert Ottway with the simplest of finishes from close range.
The league leaders then came close to regaining their lead after 21 minutes, as Carl Dunk forced a good save from Head following a corner from the left, and Kneller pounced on the loose ball but could only bundle it wide of the post from close range.
Head then produced an excellent save to keep Kneller out as the midfielder saw his powerful volley from the edge of the penalty area pushed over the bar, before Dunk blazed over from 12 yards out just before half time.
A mixture of poor finishing from the visitors and great defending from the Crows kept the game level at the break, but Tate almost came back to haunt his old club as he came close within 30 seconds of the restart.
The forward latched onto a ball over the top of the defence, and his chipped effort over the advancing Head was kept out by the far post, with Craig Bunch heading harmlessly over from the resulting corner.
However, Crowborough showed signs that they could go on to win as Thompson’s excellent cross from the right picked out substitute Elliott Wood, whose header was well saved by the advancing Adams, with Craig Hall clearing the rebound before Ottway could tap in.
Adams then kept out Thompson, gathering his low effort at the second attempt, before Peacehaven spurred a big chance as O’Toole blazed over from inside the penalty area after Kneller flicked on a long goal kick.
Sam Saunders then played the ball to Chris Ransome on the left, but the substitute’s dangerous low cross failed to pick out a Crowborough shirt in the six yard box.
Late on following a Peacehaven corner, the Crows created a great opening to take all three points on the break. Thompson broke clear from inside his own half to play a great ball through to Wood, but under pressure from Ash Jones, the striker blazed the ball well over the bar from inside the box.
A point thoroughly deserved after a battling performance from Dave Adams’ side, who now host Redhill on Tuesday night (19th Feb) before travelling to Horsham YMCA in the John O’Hara League Cup Third Round on Thursday night (21st Feb).
