A good week for the Crows could not be finished in style as Dave Adams side succumbed to a 3-0 defeat at the Crowborough Community Stadium against a strong Lancing FC. After Tuesday's excellent performance and result away at Sidley, the Crows went into Saturday's game looking to continue their good form.
Adams named an unchanged side from the midweek victory over Sidley, but it was the visitors who started brightest and deservedly took the lead through Dan Turner’s looping effort in the opening 5 minutes. Lancing continued to threaten the Crows goal, with Ben Head making a couple of fine saves to keep the score at 1-0. Crowborough began to create a couple of half chances but never truly threatened the Lancing keeper.
The second half began much better for the Crows who applied a lengthy spell of pressure on the visitors goal, however Adams side but were unable find the back of the net. The Crows were duly punished by an impressive Lancing side who extended their lead on the counter attack through Darren Boswell on the hour mark. Adams withdrew Tom Pearson for the returning Mike Culverhouse and young Morgan Steadman made his debut for the First Team in place of Jack Turner as the Crows searched for a way back into the game. However, Chris Ransome was then sent off for Crowborough after two bookings and Grant Philpott rounded off the scoring in the 92nd minute.
A disappointing performance and result for the Crows, particularly after the impressive showing midweek, however Lancing were a very impressive outfit.
