Following a disappointing defeat against Chipsted in the FA Cup on Saturday, the Crows were hoping to bounce back on Monday morning against local rivals AFC Uckfield. For once the hard work paid off as the home side ran out 3-1 winners.
The Crows made three team changes from Saturday with Scott Taylor, Mike Culverhouse and Sam Carrington coming into the starting line-up. Dean Chamberlain, Tom Pearson and Neil Grant dropped to the substitutes bench.
The Crows started very positively with both Chris Ransome and Sam Carrington looking dangerous down the wings. From a slide rule pass from Scott Taylor, Chris Ransome beat his full back before squaring the ball back for Mike Culverhouse to score, 1 - 0. The lead did not last long as a defensive mix-up allowed the dangerous Andy MacDowell too much space in the box and he picked his spot to score the equaliser, 1 - 1.
Rather than being knocked back, the Crows again started to cause danger to an experienced AFC Uckfield defence and from a corner Jack Turner rose to head home his first goal of the season, 2 -1.
The second half remained quite even with both teams having periods of possession, but the Crowborough defence dealt with all that AFC Uckfield threw at them as most of the visitors attacks were long balls to their strikers. The Crows introduced fresh legs as Tom Pearson and Neil Grant replaced Sam Saunders and Sam Carrington. Again the pace and movement of the Crows forwards led to a goal as Scott Treleaven found himself out wide on the right, cutting inside and delivering an excellent ball across the goal that a helpless defender diverted into his own net 3 - 1. The tiring Scott Tayor was replaced by Dean Chamberlain as the Crows saw out the game for what was a well deserved victory.
