This coming Tuesday, hopefully, it will be the Musselmen of Shoreham FC v the Crows of Crowborough Athletic FC in a SCFL, Division 1 fixture. As with all games at the moment with the weather we are experiencing, whether the match goes ahead or not will depend on the weather and if need be, the opinion of the match referee if an inspection is needed.
It would be great to think you could confidently look forward to the game being on but their home game on Saturday to Littlehampton Town FC was called off due to a waterlogged pitch so if we get more rain, and looking at the three day forecast for their area, there will be, then we may suffer another postponement. Keep a look out for any news in the usual places, the club website, the club Facebook page and the club Twitter account.
The Musselmen have recently signed two new players, Dan Parris, who used to play for Saltdean United FC and Anthony Barness, who some of you may know from his Premier League days with Chelsea, Charlton Athletic and Bolton Wanderers. He has also played for Lewes FC in the Ryman Isthmian League, so he obviously has bags of experience. One player they have lost is Mark Zydonik who has gone back to one of his former clubs, East Grinstead Town FC, and he has also played for Three Bridges FC and was at one point rumoured to be joining us some years ago but it never quite happened.
They currently are fifth from bottom in the table and it's probably fair to say they have been inconsistent in their nineteen games so far but they did win last time out when they beat St. Francis Rangers 3-1 away after being 1-0 down at half-time. Their main goals scoring threat seems to come from Richard Watton or John Buggy and Rob O'Toole chips in on occasions too.
They will give us a good game but we don't have a bad record at Middle Road and Wayne Clarke and Chris Ransome have both scored winning goals there in bygone days so let's hope they can do it again should the match go ahead.
