A PREVIOUS JOINT MANAGER RETURNS TO SITTINGBOURNE FC.

A PREVIOUS JOINT MANAGER RETURNS TO SITTINGBOURNE FC.

Malcolm Boyes5 Nov 2014 - 11:42

After the departure of Mick Wyatt, who at the start of the season held the position of joint manager, his previous partner has decided to return.

Nice to see you again.
Nick Davis has made a swift return to Woodstock Park where he was joint manager with Mick Wyatt at the start of the season however, he left to pursue his playing career not long into the current campaign and Wyatt took sole control.
Wyatt left Sittingbourne recently and the club were looking for a new boss and that has led to a swift return for Davis, who has now left our near neighbours Tunbridge Wells FC, although he will be dual registered for the time being.
Sittingbourne FC Secretary, John Pitts said, "We are appointing Nick Davies. We had a large amount of applications and interviewed around five of them.
He went on, “Nick, of course, knows many of the players, the set up and feels that he was unjustly removed from the joint managers job therefore, feels he has a point to prove.”
“He also has a genuine affection for the club and we also gain a player of proven ability by having him back. Nick is happy to work within the budget allocated, which is competative for our division and nothing like the low figure that others would have you believe.”
“This was a difficult decision for the committee, given the quality of those who applied but we have a history of giving a chance to new managers instead of those who have ‘done the circuit’.”
“In the past managers such as Mark Beeney, Garry Abbott and Richard Brady all had their first opportunity of being a manager with Sittingbourne Football Club.”
Tunbridge Wells boss, Martin Larkin, has also issued a statement via the club website, he said, “It is with mixed emotions that we can confirm that Nick will be leaving us, he has been great for us since joining, and although he committed for the full year, the two of us always knew that if Sittingbourne came back in for him then it would be tough to turn down as he has a point to prove after how he left in the summer.
“Nick will be playing for us tonight, (against Greenwich Borough away) and will be available for the FA Vase games still if we need him. I’d like to thank him for his help and performances so far this year, the timing isn’t great after we lost George Benner but we will work hard to replace and improve the side.”
Davis has scored twice this year in competitive action for The Wells, including the winner in our local Bank Holiday derby at Crowborough Athletic FC earlier in the year.
Personally speaking, due to the fact he did score the winner against us, I wish he'd stayed at Sittingbourne FC and never went to the Wells however, good luck to him back at Sittingbourne FC.
