Volunteers wanted as Crowborough Athletic’s football family grows

Crowborough’s community club calls on locals to lend a hand - and keep grassroots football thriving.
Crowborough Athletic FC isn’t just a football club - it’s the beating heart of a community.

From the youngest grassroots players to senior football, the club offers opportunities for people of all ages, abilities, and ambitions to develop their skills, grow in confidence, and proudly represent their town.
Since earning promotion to the Isthmian South East Division (Step 4 of the FA National League System) in September, the Men’s First Team have adapted impressively, holding their own at this higher level. Alongside them, the newly established Women’s First Team continue to make great strides, while the club’s thriving youth and girls’ sections grow stronger each season. From our youngest players taking their first kicks to our dedicated girls’ squads and mixed youth teams, more young players than ever are wearing the Crowborough shirt. With a clear pathway from youth football through to senior level, local talent has every chance to progress and shine.

But what really sets Crowborough Athletic FC apart is the community that sustains it. Like so many grassroots clubs, it thrives on the energy and commitment of its volunteers - and right now, the call is out for more people to get involved.

The club is looking for Matchday Stewards (in the stadium and car park) from 1:30pm, with free match entry included, as well as help with morning stadium preparation before games. Volunteers with DIY skills are also needed for simple maintenance and painting jobs around the ground and clubhouse, alongside roles for a Turnstile Assistant (1:30–3:30pm), a cleaner, and kitchen helpers on match days.

Even Freddie, the club’s much-loved mascot, lends a paw by helping with the raffle and chasing footballs around the pitch - a reminder that everyone, in their own way, can play a part.

All of Crowborough Athletic FC’s managers and coaches are volunteers too, supported to gain their FA qualifications and nurture young players in a positive, inclusive environment. The philosophy is simple: football should be fun, friendly, and open to everyone - whatever their background or ability.
Anyone keen to get involved can email cafcsec@outlook.com. For Crowborough Athletic FC, community spirit doesn’t just fill the stands - it keeps the whole club moving forward.
