Trams are the next visitors to our home.
Croydon FC finish a run of three successive home games for the Crows when they visit the Community Stadium on Tuesday, 21st March 2017. Whether they choose to play the same way as the two previous teams remains to be seen, but they have tried to play a more attacking game in our previous fixtures against them, so one lives in hope that will be the case this time.
We have already beaten them of course this season at the Croydon Sports Arena where we played some great football but there was a horrible injury to our on-loan goalkeeper at the time, Ryan Burbridge, when a rather late and high tackle injured his knee to such an extent that he had to have an operation to repair the damage.
Since that game the Trams have suffered due to their Chairman and Manager when we played them, Dickson Gill, deciding to step down and leave the club with immediate effect in January of this year. The club have been very honest in the social media by saying that Mr. Gill's departure has caused them some problems as he was paying many of the bills and keeping the club afloat as the number of people they get through the gate and paying their admission fee does not cover the running cost in anyway.
Still, despite their troubles, they sit in eleventh position in the table having played 29 games, with 11 wins, 3 draws and 15 defeats, they've scored 53 goals and conceded 59 therefore, have a -6 goal difference whilst amassing their 36 points.
In their last two games, both at home, they've lost 3-0 to Cray Valley PM and last week they won 4-2 at home to Bearsted FC, the team that recently beat Ashford United at home, so they cannot be taken lightly at all.
With their recent troubles it's unknown how many of the players who played against us earlier in the season still remain with the club but interestingly the squad list they've supplied us for the match day programme only contains fourteen names and in that fixture against Bearsted they only had thirteen names on the team sheet.
However, all of that means nothing when it comes to our game, we'll have to play well and battle just as hard as we have in any other game this season if we are to take maximum points and remain top of the league.
The players need your support more than ever now we're reaching the climax to the season and we all need to raise the noise level somewhat at the Community Stadium if we are to give the players encouragement to give that little bit more if possible for the cause.
Entrance for adults: £8.00, Concessions: £4.00, Under 16's: £1, FREE if accompanied by a paying adult. A 16-page, full-colour programme costs £1.00. All the other usual facilities on a match day such as the Crow Arms and the tea bar run by Top Nosh will be open, so get down to the stadium and cheer the team on to another three points hopefully.
