Another tough game expected.
The Crows have four games left to play and on Saturday start a run of three games in succession against teams that are in the bottom five positions in the SCEFL Premier Division table and therefore, in the relegation mix.
Our visitors, Lordswood FC, are currently fourth from bottom on 27 points, two ahead ahead of the bottom two, Beckenham Town and Fisher FC and one point ahead of third from bottom side, Erith & Belvedere. Erith Town are just above Lordswood FC on 28 points so 3 points covers those five clubs whilst Tunbridge Wells on 35 points are probably safe from the threat of relegation, especially as they've all played 34 games.
Therefore, whilst we think we've four "Cup Finals" to play for the title, those clubs also have four "Cup Finals" to play to preserve their SCEFL Premier Division future and personally, I don't think the pressure on the players is any less if you're at the top or the bottom, they're all must win games.
With that in mind the chances of the spectators seeing an open, sparkling game of football might be quite low however, we all live in hope and an early goal for either side in these types of matches can change the initial game plan for either side.
At the Community Stadium this season we are used to sides arriving with a game plan to stifle us and defend in numbers, teams such as Deal Town, Rochester United and Croydon FC spring to mind however, that's what we should expect and should be capable of dealing with and eventually, overcome, especially if we want to win the title.
Our visitors have definitely improved of late and in their last three matches have drawn 0-0 away at Deal Town, drew 1-1 at home to Sevenoaks Town and in their most recent fixture last Saturday, won 2-1 away at Tunbridge Wells FC.
What has cost them dear recently though are two defeats against teams around them in the table, 2-0 away at Salter Road against Fisher FC and a 3-0 defeat away at Beckenham Town. Sandwiched between those two away defeats were a 4-0 away defeat against our title rivals Ashford United FC and a 2-2 home draw against another high flyer, Sheppey United FC.
Just before the transfer deadline date Lordswood FC signed three new players, all had played for the club previously I believe, although that may be incorrect, but it's no coincidence that since those players signed, the results have improved. Therefore, the Crows will know they have their work cut out to get the win they need and let's hope as many fans as possible turn up to watch the game and support the Crows as they battle for the title.
