Crows take on the Deres.
It's second against seventeenth in this SCEFL Premier Division fixture as Erith & Belvedere visit the Crowborough Community Stadium. It's been a season of struggle for the Deres so far in 2016/17 and they have been flirting with the relegation zone practically since the campaign started.
Whilst we were going down to our first away defeat of the season at Ashford United, the Deres lost 2-0 at home to AFC Croydon Athletic, Mfula scoring both the goals, one a penalty, during the second 45 minutes. The home side also had Matthew Parsons sent off in the last minute for receiving two yellow cards.
Luke Coleman is now the manager of the Deres following the resignation of John Wilfort, back in late February, who was the manager when we played them earlier in the season. Jamie Leggett is the Assistant Manager, he was involved in the previous management set up and Bryan Glover joined at the same time as Luke to become First Team Coach.
I believe since Coleman took over as Manager, they have beaten Corinthian 2-1 at home, lost 1-0 away at Rochester United, lost 2-1 away at Canterbury City, lost 2-0 at home to Sevenoaks Town but in the last game before they played AFC Croydon Athletic, they won 2-0 at the Culverden Stadium against Tunbridge Wells.
There's no doubt they will arrive at the Community Stadium ready to fight for everything and be as resolute in defence as they can possibly be. I should think they will play in a similar fashion as our recent visitors, Deal Town, Rochester United and Croydon, therefore, we know it will be a tough game and we'll have to be better at breaking them down than we were in those games previously mentioned.
With Ashford United winning 2-0 away at Whitstable Town on Tuesday night and opening up a six point lead on us now, even though we have two games in hand, we know that we have to win every game left if we are to stand any chance of winning the league title and close the gap in goal difference as much as we can by scoring plenty of goals, whilst not conceding any.
Therefore, expect a game of attack versus defence, the Crows will probably have most of the possession and will have to be patient and take the chances when they come along, something we've not done in recent games which has cost us dear and the wrong time of the season.
The Crows should be at full-strength so get behind and support the team, you can make the difference between only getting a point or all three with the correct support.
