Battle for points carries on.
It's joint top versus eleventh, 70 points taking on 36 points as the Crows host visitors Rochester United in their next SCEFL Premier Division fixture. The visitors points have been accumulated from 30 matches, comprising of 9 wins, 9 draws and 12 defeats. They've scored 45 goals in those matches and conceded 59 therefore, have a goal difference of -14.
Earlier in the season we drew 1-1 at Rede Court in a match that was rather spoilt by a gusty wind and was notable for a fantastic effort from Lee Carey that gave us a first half lead, some missed chances from us to extend the lead and a speculative effort from their left back from distance which deceived Ellis in our goal and enabled them to grab a point with minutes to go.
We drew our last league game at home of course, 1-1 against Deal Town, and that was the first time since September 3rd that we hadn't taken maximum points in a home league match. So the Crows will want to get back to winning ways and maintain their challenge for the league title and keep the pressure on their closet rivals, Ashford United, as they host AFC Croydon Athletic at Homelands at the same time.
Rochester's results have been mixed of late, last week they won 1-0 at home to Erith & Belvedere and prior to that their last five league matches have been a 2-1 defeat away to Tunbridge Wells, another 2-1 away defeat at the hands of Hollands & Blair, a 1-0 home defeat to Beckenham Town, a 3-1 home win against now struggling Croydon and a 1-1 draw against AFC Croydon Athletic.
However, those past results count for nothing and I'm sure they will approach today's match the same way Deal Town did last week and have a steely determination not to lose the game therefore, we'll have to be at our best and make sure we take whatever chances come our way this week.
