The Crows v The Oysterboys.
Second takes on seventh when Whitstable Town visit the Community Stadium this weekend and it will be our first ever meeting in the SCEFL as they've only been in the league this season, following their relegation from the Ryman Isthmian League last campaign.
We should have played them by now but our excellent FA Vase run meant that games had to be postponed and Whitstable Town happened to be one of those.
I believe we did play them when we had our one and only season in the Ryman Isthmian League South in 2008/09 but as my memory is not so good anymore I had to check the Isthmian League Archive website which says we drew 2-2 at home and lost 2-1 away. We finished bottom of the twenty-two teams with a grand total of 13 points. The Oysterboys finished in sixteenth place and 37 points better off than us.
It would be fair to say that this season hasn't quite panned out as they would have hoped as I'm sure they would have been quite confident of having a good chance of going straight back up but that has not turned out to be the case. Their early season form saw mixed results although their form of late has been better and they currently have 49 points from their 26 matches, whilst we have 63 points from our 25 matches.
In their last match at home to Tunbridge Wells in the league they had to rely on a Charlie Smith equaliser in the 85th minute to earn a point, Jamie Lawrence giving the Wells a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute from the penalty spot.
In the game before that they won 2-0 away at Sevenoaks Town and have only lost 1-0 and 4-2 to Ashford United home and away in cup and league respectively in the last couple of months. Their record also suggests they don't concede too many goals but are not that prolific in front of goal either.
For the Crows to get all 3 points they will have to be at their best and take their chances when they come along, something we've not been doing of late as efficiently as we were doing earlier in the season.
It should be a good game though so get yourself down to the Community Stadium and support the team in their battle to win the SCEFL title for season 2016/17. Kick off is 3:00pm and the entrance fee is £8 adults, £4 concessions, U16's £1 although U16's are free if accompanied by a paying adult. A 16 page full colour programme costs £1.
The Crow Arms will be open for those that like an alcoholic tipple as well as our excellent tea bar which is operated by Top Nosh, serving its usual range quality burgers, hot dogs and other fare.
