Crows out of both FA competitions for the season

The Crows came into the FA Vase game against Cobham full of confidence off the back of the 6-0 thrashing of Peacehaven & Telscombe on Tuesday night, although judging by our opponents ill discipline, probably a bit sore!

The game didn’t start well for Muggsys men, going down within 3 minutes, but in typical Crows style, the boys dusted themselves off, picked themselves up and went again.

And around 6 minutes later, the man in form Murrain had luck on his side, as he equalled the scoreline.

He made his own luck, hassling the defenders, he managed to get a good enough touch on the ball to send it goalwards, and it rolled over the line, the Cobham defender unable to stop it as he charged back into his own net.

The game was by no means a classic, and after a short spell of dominance, our hosts largely dominated the first half.

Half time 1-1 and the task ahead looked challenging.

The second half saw a brighter Crowborough side as thunder and lightning surrounded the Cobham stadium.

A few half chances gave the superb traveling support, who there were arguably more of than Cobham fans, hope that the second half would unfold in favour of The Crows.

But on 56 minutes, perhaps slightly against the run of play, Cobham hit their second of the afternoon to regain the lead.

The Crows looked to hit back immediately, Cobham scrambling around getting blocks in around their own area.

More scrambling ended in a Harry Brown shot on the 64th minute that was well blocked, followed shortly by another Murrain effort, this time acrobatically saved by the Cobham keeper as we hunted for the all important equaliser.

But it wasn’t to be, and in the 78th minute our hosts extended their lead as they scored their 3rd goal of the game.

A penalty was won on the 85th minute but Murrain hit his spot kick over the bar.

Powell and Duncan had late chances to close the gap, but it wasn’t to be and time ran out.

Full Time: 3-1 (Cobham)
Man of the Match: Lucas Murrain
