Away match vs Farnham Town to come on the 19th August

The Crows welcomed Shoreham to the Community Stadium for the FA Cup Extra Preliminary round, a hurdle that in recent times, we have rarely past.

Today felt different, 2 games, 2 good performances and 6 points to date in the league, recently promoted to our league Shoreham would provide another good test.

The game started at a ferocious pace, both sides intent on putting the other on the back foot. It was The Crows who started to take control, though, with a bit of luck after Killick mis hit shot, the Shoreham defender trying to clear but only hitting his own player, forcing an excellent save.

Danny Powell had a shot saved from 6 yards on 11’ as the pressure continued to grow on the visitors.

The pressure continued, but eventually, Muggsys boys in blue found the opening, Lucas Murrain finishing neatly from close range 26 minutes in.

Immediately after, Killick beat 3 defenders to only be denied point blank by the onrushing Shoreham keeper.

As the rain continued to pour down in a we first half, Danny Powell, who had deserved a few goals in the last game, and already had a chance saved, got his goal. Rory Salter, with great work down the left, teed up Lucas Murrain who rode a challenge and ran out of pitch, expertly cut back for Powell, who took a touch and popped the ball into the net. 2-0, and cruising at this point.

More chances came, with the magnificent Ollie Welbourn pulling the strings in midfield, a constant driving force throughout.

On the stroke of half time a penalty was given, but saved well by the Shoreham keeper.

Half time 2-0 and Powell was withdrawn for Elliott Duncan.

Shoreham came out with fire in their belly’s, Cam Hall making a superb save, and Salter clearing off the line, before the fire was put out quickly and The Crows regained control.

Murrain had a goal ruled out as offside, although he was clearly onside, rounding the keeper with ease (no VAR was available, however Crows TV ruled it onside).

Just before the hour mark, The Crows got their deserved third and final goal, Harry Forster hitting a neat shot home from 20 yards!

The Crows kept up the pressure, playing with confidence and moving the ball around tidily.

Rory Salter could have ended the game on a hat trick, with a number of great chances as the game wore on.

Hyland and Duncan each had efforts go just over after some excellent work, but it didn’t matter, as the full time whistle blew, we can look forward to the next round draw.

Up the Crows!

Final score: 3-0
Man of the Match: Ollie Welbourn
