THREE DAYS OF FOOTBALL FUN IN THE SUN.

The club held its annual Summer Football Fiesta over the Bank Holiday weekend at the Alderbrook Recreation Ground.

With the sun in constant attention, around 140 teams, 1,120 players and many managers, coaches and parents enjoyed three days of spectacular football action covering the Under 7 to Under 16 age ranges.
The football started early on Saturday morning with nine teams playing eight games each in the Under 7 age range on two pitches. Rules, quite correctly, do not allow for results and tables to be recorded, so every participating boy or girl received a momento of their participation in our 2018 Fiesta.
On another four pitches, twenty three Under 9 teams competed in four groups with the winners of each group going through to the semi-finals. The groups were won by Charlwood Village, Rusthall United, Hove Park Colts and EMC Academy Gold, with Rusthall United and Charlwood Village going through to the final therefore, Hove Park Colts and EMC Academy Gold contested the Shield final. The winners were Rusthall United who beat Charlwood Village 1-0 and the Shield went to Hove Park Colts who beat EMC Academy Gold 4-1.
On Saturday afternoon it was the turn of the Under 10 and Under 13 teams to use the pitches. In the Under 10 age range twenty teams, in four groups, played their games and the group winners were ASC Strikers, Hove Riverdale Blacks, Rusthall City and Jarvis Brook Juniors. ASC Strikers beat Hove Riverdale Blacks 2-1 in the final, whilst Rusthall City beat Jarvis Brook Juniors 3-0 to win the Shield match.
In the Under 13 age range, ten teams competed in two groups with the winners and runners up going through to the semi-finals. In the final, Crowborough Athletic Barca (pictured) beat Eastbourne Borough Reds 2-0, whilst in the Shield, Eastbourne Borough Orange beat Tonbridge Angels 3-2.
On Sunday morning the Under 8 age range kicked off with twelve teams playing each other on two pitches. As per the Under 7 age range, no results are recorded and every player left with a momento of their participation.
The other age range using the pitches on Sunday morning were the Under 11. Twenty teams played in four groups and the group winners were St. Francis Rangers, who beat Mile Oak Wanderers 1-0 in the final, whilst the other group winners, Langton Green Hawks and Denton & South Heighton JFC Dash Black contested the Shield, Langton Green Hawks winning 1-0.
On Sunday afternoon the Under 12 and Under 14 age ranges took to the field. Eighteen teams in the Under 12's were split in to three groups with the three group winners and the best runner up contesting the semi-finals. The final was won by ASC Strikers FC Yellow who beat Tunbridge Wells Foresters Albion 1-0 and the Shield was won by Ringmer JFC Blue beat Biddenden FC also 1-0.
In the Under 14 age range ten teams split in to two groups played their matches, the winners and runners up in each group going through to contest the semi-finals. The final was won by Select Soccer White when they beat St. Francis Rangers 1-0 and Eastbourne Borough Orange were victorious 3-2 in the Shield against Broad Oak & Horam.
With Saturday and Sunday dealt with, it was the turn of the Under 15's on Bank Holiday Monday in the morning and the Under 16 age range in the afternoon. Fourteen teams split in to two groups contested the Under 15 age range, the group winners and the runners up going through to the semi-finals, with ASC Strikers FC Yellow beating Tonbridge Rangers in the final, the Shield went to ASC Strikers FC Blue as they beat Hangleton Rangers. A good result in the Under 15's for ASC Strikers FC on the day.
In the Under 16's only four teams entered, two from ASC Strikers FC and two from Crowborough Athletic FC. The final was won by one of the ASC Strikers FC sides and the Shield was won by one of the Crowborough Athletic FC sides.
The club would like to thank everyone who turned up over the three days to make this such a successful Fiesta and of course, we mustn't forget all of the CAFC volunteers, managers, coaches and parents for their help over the three days, without them there simply wouldn't be a Fiesta for all to enjoy.
To run such an event as this takes a tremendous amount of effort and there are plenty of people behind the scenes who don't even have children playing for the club who give up their time willingly to see others get enjoyment at playing in an event such as ours.
The club would also like to thank the referees who officiated over the three days and to Go Tournamental who made the gathering and producing the tables, winners and runners up so much easier.
We hope to see you all again next year.
