Hard work pays off.
The club heard the following news from Paul Saunders, Project Manager at the Sussex County Football Association on Friday, that it has been identified by them to receive support via The FA Club Programme.
The announcement said, “Dear all,
Your club has been identified by Sussex CFA to receive support via The FA Club Programme as part of the ‘WEURO Legacy’ cohort of clubs. This means you have been identified as an important club within our host city and as such will receive additional services and support including working with an FA Club Consultant.”
The initiative is linked to the UEFA Women’s Euro England 2022 Championship which will see nine cities and ten home stadiums host 31 matches in the group and knockout stages of the tournament. As a consequence, fans up and down the country will get the chance to see some of the top players in the world play during these matches.
Brighton & Hove is one of the cities and the home of Brighton & Hove Albion is therefore one such stadium which has been selected to host games throughout the three and a half weeks the tournament lasts.
For us as a club to be recognised and selected to receive support in developing girls and women’s football in the area by the Sussex County FA is down to the hard work and dedication one of our Youth Managers and Coaches, Paul Onslow, Manager of our U10 Cats Girls, has put into developing girls football in the area and for the girls within the community of Crowborough.
He has been very active in engaging with the Sussex County FA and other bodies, local and national, to promote the interests of girls and women’s football in general and it’s nice that his efforts have been rewarded.
